DEATH • BECOMES • HER or sometime known as DBH have steadily grown a reputation for their eclectic electronic post-punk music in Malaysia local music scenes, which can be described as dark and danceable, sometimes atmospheric and intense.
 

DEATH • BECOMES • HER is an independent post-punk / darkwave band hailed from The Royal Town of Klang, Selangor, West of Malaysia. Formed in 1994 and has been regarded as one of the pioneer of dark electronic post-punk movement in Malaysia since the 90s.

Originally formed with the name 'Extraterrestrial', the band produced their self released cassette album which contained 10 original songs in the year 1996 and received good reviews from from local and international write-ups. They change the name to 'DEATH • BECOMES • HER' (with DOT in between words) once they've decided to take their musical approaches towards darker soundscapes build with electronica elements. The band has been actively performing around Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, Penang & Singapore and has shared the stage with many locals and international acts such as Atomic Kittens (UK), Plain Sunsets (SG), Laila's Lounge (MY) - to name a few, in the year between 1999 until 2004. They have as well received many good reviews and interviews in magazines and music websites.

After two compilations album released, One Voice Records - "Bukan Untuk Kepentingan Diri"; 1999 and 2003; Systematrix - The Independent Sound of Electro Fusion", the band break-up in 2004, leaving tons their recorded songs remain unpublished until today. After nearly 13 years of hiatus, December 24th, 2016 marked the boys returning on the local music scene when they performed with a full original line-up plus two new members on 'Second Combat 20th Anniversary Show' in Kuala Lumpur.

 

On Friday September 13th, 2019, they released their first proper single entitled "Sanctuary of a Love Cult" on all major streaming and download platforms worldwide including iTunes, Google Play Music, Spotify, Youtube, AWA (Japan), Deezer (France) and etc. The single was first released in the United Kingdom through Nightbreed Recordings label radio called, 'Nightbreed Radio'. The initial single was first being aired through Nightbreed Founder / Director "The Darklord Show" before releasing it worldwide.

 

Following the success of the first single, the band released their second single entitled "Tonight" in January 31st, 2020.

The band is currently busy working in the final stage of mixing before sending them for mastering on all of their unpublished recorded studio material with a few of newly written songs. The debut will be release sometime soon within the year, 2020.
